VISTA, California, April 28, 2009 - Effective July 1, 2009, legislation will no longer permit the use of mercury in Traffic Control Cabinets. A number of states have already adopted and/or are considering similar legislation. Caltrans is addressing this issue in the latest release of the Transportation Electrical Equipment Specifications (TEES) dated March 12, 2009. NEMA is in the process of addressing this issue by way of an amendment to the TS-2 Traffic Controller Assemblies with NTCIP Requirements Standard (going out for comment and ballot shortly). |
