Transparity Central Software

Transparity^TM is McCain’s next generation central software system. It has been designed to support national standards such as the National ITS Architecture and the National Transportation Communications for ITS Protocol (NTCIP). Utilizing the latest design standards, Transparity provides a consistent and intuitive Graphical User Interface (GUI) across the entire family of products that make up the system. This compliance with industry accepted standards helps to insure a customer’s investment, both now and in the future.

The Transparity system supports a flexible range of architectures including stand-alone, client-server, and web-based. A browser based interface is supported as well as the standard Windows based interface. Transparity can also provide interfaces on a variety of mobile devices such as PDA’s and cell phones. This flexible architecture is achieved through the use of platform independent components. The Transparity architecture enables the system to be monitored and managed remotely for agencies that want the benefits of a central system, but don’t have the resources to manage such a system.

While Transparity is truly a next generation system, it has evolved from the highly successful McCain QuicNet System that has been deployed around the world. This predecessor to Transparity set industry standards for performance and reliability. Transparity provides a solution under which existing field equipment and next generation devices can coexist. This allows for a gradual migration path inline with each customer’s specific time and budget constraint.

Transparity is fully modular and scalable; supporting installations ranging from small traffic management systems up to multi-agency ITS solutions. Modules can be supplied to support all of the traditional ITS applications. The most common modules are:
