Sign Control Software

Product Overview

McCain’s sign control software, a component of Transparity® software suite, provides central control and monitoring of Dynamic Message Signs (DMS). The software is fully compliant with and supports any National Transportation Communications for Intelligent Transportation System Protocol (NTCIP) compliant sign. The software features a scheduler and event manager that accommodates pre-programmed and on-the-fly messages, as well as scenario management. A user-friendly map feature displays current location, sign status, and current message and can easily integrate with other Transparity modules to map your entire ITS system.

Scheduler & Event Manager

• Schedules recurring messages based on time of day, day of the week, and day of month
  
• Allows management to quickly and efficiently disseminate warnings and directional information to motorists regarding lane closures, accidents, detours, traffic delays, etc.
  
• One-click scenario management immediately displays pre-defined message sets on all signs allowing pre-determined response to events as they occur
  
• Message queue manages the current message displayed based on allocated message priority

System Maps

• Easy-to-read bitmap and GIS-based maps display sign locations and current information
  
• Displays current sign status and pop-up displays that show current messages
  
• Allows users to execute common operations directly from the system map screen
  
• Map fully integrates with other Transparity modules for tracking and monitoring of your entire ITS system
  

WYSIWYG Editor

• What-You-See-Is-What-You-Get (WYSIWYG) text and graphics editor allows users to design and preview messages exactly as they will be displayed
  
• Allows creation of multiple page, scrolling, and flashing messages
  
• Creates a library of allowable messages and enforces a user-defined dictionary of allowable words
  
• Supports a standard or user-created font library
  

Infrastructure Management

• Monitors sign status including current message, communications, alarms, and general information for day-to-day operations
  
• Pixel testing allows remote verification of sign pixel operability

Installation
McCain’s software installation team will work with you throughout the entire installation process to ensure optimum performance with your current infrastructure. During the initial consultation a customized time line will be established to provide the framework for the entire installation process. Major phases generally include preparation, configuration, installation, test and commissioning, software training, and final roll out.
