SWARCO McCain helps City of Downey communicate to all signalized intersections.
Downey, California

Overview
The upgrade included citywide MyCity TMS1 licenses for 112 signals, a new server, desktop and laptop, Ethernet communication modules for the city’s older 170 controllers, as well as, professional services for delivery and training.
Location
The City of Downey, which is home to more than 113,000 residents in 12.41 square miles, is a diverse and dynamic community in the heart of Los Angeles County. The city is approximately 15 miles from Downtown Los Angeles, and 5 miles from Orange County.
The Challenge
The city needed enhanced connectivity and signal timing control for the city’s signalized intersections. They also required fiber optic communications and a new traffic management software system at City Hall.
Solution
With the implementation of MyCity TMS, the city is now able to communicate to all of their signalized intersections. This allows the traffic management center to receive alerts and status information from their entire signalized network, as well as, update signal timing to all 112 signals remotely. MyCity TMS provides dependable monitoring and control of signalized intersections in small and large environments, and was a great solution for the City of Downey.
